Finding Your All-Star Wine

Wed, Feb 14, 24

Part of the joy of wine, in our opinion, is the plethora of wines on the market today that you can find, try and enjoy. They can represent a range of styles from the lightest Riesling to the densest Syrah. Wine can allow you to travel around the world without leaving the comfort of your own home, crossing the globe from New Zealand, to Napa, to Sicily and back again. However, there is something to be said for finding that wine that you just keep going back to. The one that create a sense of comfort that goes with any meal. What we call our All-Star wine!

We think it is nice to maybe have a handful of these bottles, our Wine Director has 4, a red, a white and two different bubbles (Luke loves bubbles, and he never mentions it!) You may only need two bottles, a red and a white, a lighter red and a heavier red, maybe all bubbles, whatever fits your palate!

But, how do you pick the right bottle? Well first we’d tell you to visit our downtown store every Friday for our Free Friday Tastings from 4-6pm, it is a great time to try a variety of new wines that are discounted the day of the tasting. If you have a glass or bottle of wine out it is always helpful to take a picture of the menu or bottle and bring it in to one of our stores and we can help you track that bottle down. In general we like to think that the best all-star wines are those that are both food friendly and something that you can sip on its own. We think that having at least one refreshing wine is always a good idea as well, the kind of wine that we would call a porch pounder.
